Dr.
John T. Drea (DBA, Southern Illinois University) is
the President of 3pl-training.com. He is also a Professor of
Marketing and the Chair of the Department of Marketing and Finance at Western Illinois University. Dr. Drea teaches courses in
Marketing Research, Applied Business Research, Marketing Decision Making, Buyer
Behavior, and Marketing
Strategy. Dr. Drea is also an active consultant, specializing in marketing research.
He has been recognized for innovative and exemplary approaches to
college teaching on a national level by both the American Marketing Association
(2003) and the Society for Marketing
Advances (2000), and was named the first "Great Teacher in Marketing" by the
Society for Marketing Advances (1998). He
has won two Faculty Research Awards and one Teacher of the Year Award
while at Western Illinois University. Dr. Drea's research
has appeared in numerous journals including
Transportation Journal, Defense Logistics Journal, Journal of
Transportation Research Forum, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal
of Personal Selling and Sales Management, and many others. Dr. Drea is
also the developer of several interactive
computer games currently in use in marketing instruction.
Dr. Joe B. Hanna
(Ph.D., New Mexico State University) is a 3pl-training.com professor and
consultant. He is currently an Associate Professor of Logistics at
Auburn University, where he teaches Supply Chain Management and
Purchasing. Dr. Hanna’s practical
business experience includes extensive background in performing
transportation supplier selection/evaluation, cost/price analysis,
negotiation with third-party logistics providers, and auditing supplier
contracts. Prior to working in the purchasing area, Dr. Hanna worked in
transportation accounting where he dealt with transportation freight
rates, negotiations with carriers, updating and maintaining computer
freight rate data bases, scheduling/routing optimization, and
participating in transportation strategy and logistics optimization
planning. Dr. Hanna has served as either a paid consultant or an
independent, non-paid advisor for companies like Maersk-Sealand, Inc.,
John Deere, Menlo Logistics, Exel Logistics, Philips Electronics,
General Electric Power Systems and others. He is the recipient of two
“Best Researcher in the College” awards. Dr. Hanna is the author of
more than thirty articles in journals as Journal of Business
Logistics, Transportation Journal, International Journal
of Logistics Management, Industrial Marketing Management and
others. He is the co-author of several books,
including Logistics (published by Prentice-Hall) and
Supplemental Readings for Part II of the Certified Transportation Broker
Exam (published by TIA). Dr.
Hanna is also the recipient of both the “McCartney Best Teacher in the
College” and the “Best Teacher in the Department” awards while at Auburn
University.
Dr. James T. Kenny
(Ph.D., Oklahoma State University) is
the founder of 3pl-training.com. Dr. Kenny is a
Professor of Marketing at Western Illinois University, where teaches courses in
Professional Selling, Sales Management, Supply Chain Management, and Marketing
Strategy. He is a nine-time nominee for Teacher of the Year, has won two
Faculty Excellence Awards, and one Teacher of the Year Award while at Western
Illinois University. Dr. Kenny has trained sales people for over four-dozen
third-party logistics firms and carriers. His client list has included: UPS
Worldwide Logistics, McKinsey & Company, A.T. Kearny, Allen Lund Company,
American Backhaulers, Landstar and Trinity Transport. He serves on the
education committees for the Warehouse Education Research Council (WERC),
Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), and Certified Professional
Insurance Association (CPIA). He is currently managing the Certified
Transportation Broker Program for the TIA. His professional selling and
marketing seminars have won awards from both the TIA and CPIA.
